School Break Project

The girls just had a week off school. They call it October break. It is usually always around what they call All Saints Day here in the Philippines. That is a day people here remember their deceased relatives and friends. Many go to the cemetery and picnic and lay out food for their buried love ones.

Well, since we did not go anywhere over our break I decided we needed a project to keep the girls busy so they did not get bored. We had a shed outside that was dreary to look at as it was all unfinished cement and dirty. I decided we would do a make over on it and make it look like a cute garden shed. We started painting it and the girls said, "Can we paint a mural on the wall?" I said, "Sure, why not." So they picked a picture off the internet. They decided on a rose as the lady that owns the house loves roses and has rose bushes all over in front of the house. We got rained on a few times and had to fix spots where the rain had made the paint run.

I think it turned out really good for them never having done such a big project before. I was just there to help coach on color placement, shading, and blending techniques. They did all the paint color mixing and most all the painting. I helped in just a few spots.

Because of the mural project the whole shed part did not get completely finished but I'll include a picture of the whole thing when it is done.

Wow! The girls did a great job on the shed the rose looks amazing. Did they have a stencil or something? It's amazing. Good job!

No Stencil. Kaylee drew it free hand from a picture they chose off the internet and they painted it. Glad you like it.
