Arriving in the Philippines

We are in the Philippines now! Our flight went well except for some turbulence between Japan and the Philippines. Made a few people scream! It was a bit like a roller coaster for a while. But we got through immigration and customs with no trouble at all and all luggage arrived too.

We arrived on a Thursday night and started looking for a place to live right away on Friday and Saturday. We looked at about 8 places and narrowed it down to 3 possibilities. We have now narrowed it down to 1 (pictured) and are going to see 1 one more place today before we possibly make a final decision today. The prices for housing are over twice as much here in Mandaluyong as they were in Quezon City when we were here last time. We have been doing some number crunching to try to come up with a budget so we know how much we can afford to spend on a house. Look at this other picture. I'm not sure if you can read the sign on the door, oh maybe there isn't a door, it says apartment for rent. I bet it would be cheaper than the first one!

Sunday we went to church at one of the biggest churches in Manila and spent the rest of the day visiting our old neighborhood in Quezon City.

All day Monday we spent at the girl's new school for registration, orientation, uniform pick up and testing. Russ and Janaya went swimming in the new aquatic center at the school while Kaylee and I were in orientation. It is a really nice facility and we may have family days there once in a while to swim. They are registered and took their first van trip to school on Tuesday. They had a new driver and were quite late to school on the first day.
